The maximum trailer weight according to the towing vehicle’s registration document (the trailer’s weight incl. load and hitch capacity) may never be exceeded.
Unbraked trailers
An unbraked trailer is a registered trailer with suspension but without a braking system. Vehicles without EEC approvals, i.e. vehicles built up to and including 1996 may tow unbraked trailers with a total weight of max 750 kg.
Vehicles with EEC approvals, i.e. vehicles built after 1996 may tow unbraked trailers with the maximum trailer weight specified on page 2 of the vehicle’s registration document at T51B. The maximum trailer weight for unbraked trailers is specified here in kg (in this case the trailer weight is specified, which is the trailer’s kerb weight + the actual load).
